I live in a world I do not understand. Why do we have an internet radio station called Jango? It almost sounds like a personal attack. But I did enjoy the Otis Redding “White Christmas” song; though I digress.Or is it that I’ve regressed? Anyway, with all the bible study tools available on the internet, with all the podcasts streaming and other internet geek stuff…why do we have so little faith? Can anybody help me?

I remember one year, I was working on a presidential campaign in places like Iowa and Wisconsin. I traveled all over the United States. I returned home in time for Election Day and just in time to collect my paycheck. When I received my check, I asked a friend to take me to Virginia to a car dealer so I could buy my first car. And, there it was - a Red Convertible Dodge 600! I figured I could just put down some money, get my car and go. It was my first car purchase, so I didn’t know that buying a car was a process that would take up most of the day. So, I sat there as the sales people brought in someone to talk about financing and insurance and all the things that go along with a new car purchase. I talked to the people and eventually drove off the lot with my new car! What a proud moment it was for me! Unfortunately, by the time I finished making the deal, I returned to DC and the polls were closed. After all the work I had done to help with the election, I missed my chance to participate in the process myself. As close as I was to finishing my task, I lost my focus. I turned my attention to getting car when I should have kept my focus on the election. This recent election has caused me to reflect on this incident. I was more diligent this time and I didn’t let the promise of long lines or any thing else distract me from casting my vote. And, I want to encourage you to do likewise. Take this opportunity to finish your work - whatever it may be. Don’t give up on the journey! Don’t get distracted! Stay the course and complete the task that the Lord has given you to do! The Bible tells us in Philippians that “He who has begun a good work in you shall perform it to the day of Jesus Christ.” Thank God for His faithfulness! The Lord promises to do His part. We just have to work on doing ours. Holla! |
